- Rated 4 out of 5by Ali S. Fakename, 4 years agoIt kind of works... but it doesn't do what I want. I don't think it's something the creator can fix.
I have the same problem that a user SouthOkanagan reported in 2018, it won't allow URLs like https://www.google.com to be set at the new tab page.
The developer asked "Why would you want to do that ? You can search in the toolbar".
The reason I want to do this is because I **HATE** searching in the address bar at the top of the screen.
I want to have https://www.google.com appear whenever I open a new tab or window. I want the search to be focused in the centre of the screen, where my eyes are looking, not at the top of the screen.
It's crazy that Firefox doesn't have this as an option for new tabs anyway.
This add in is a great idea, but I can't use it for what I want... but that's:
a) Google's fault for not allowing embedding (though I can see why they do that to avoid some kind of "skinning" with keylogging or something
b) Even more so, it's firefox's fault for not having an option in the first place to set a custom URL for new tabs... sigh. - Rated 4 out of 5by webUser, 5 years agoне поняла как это работает, но отзывы неплохие, 4 звезды за труды!!
- Rated 4 out of 5by Burgo, 5 years agoIt is an awesome extension, but it would be better if you could choose where is the focus. It sets the focus on the bar, an option to set the focus on the page would be appreciated.

- Rated 5 out of 5by eatinhamson, 5 years agoI use this in conjunction with raidrop.io to give me fast access to my bookmarks. The key feature here is that the focus remains on the address bar, because raindrop.io can take a minute to load. With this extension, I do not have to wait, I can immediately start typing my search in address bar. WELL DONE!

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 15858838, 6 years agoAwesome! Thanks, this is the only way to get decent new tab functionality until Mozilla fixes the bug with the url bar.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Mike Ehrmantraut, 6 years agoUseless. Only allows the search engines I don't want to use.

- Rated 5 out of 5by student 20, 6 years agoThis extension is great! It does exactly what it says, and nothing else. It would be nice, I suppose, if the custom page could be set within the regular Firefox options, but I'm not complaining.
What I WILL complain about is that I need an addon to do this at all. What the heck, Firefox? Not being able to set a new tab page without an extension is just... weird. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14020896, 6 years agoThere is a major bug, most people will be using this to have their own start page, the issue is, when you click any link from this new tab page, it loads it in its iframe and dousnt redirect to the proper website you have clicked.

posted 6 years agoUnfortunately this is a known issue (https://github.com/MethodGrab/firefox-custom-new-tab-page/issues/1) with no easy solution unless you control the site used as your new tab page. If you do control the site you can add `target="_top"` to the links to make them open in the top frame.
I've added a note about this to the caveats section of the add-on description. - Rated 3 out of 5by Daupaloffer, 6 years agoFantastic in every way apart from the fact that it flashes white when loading.

posted 6 years agoThanks for your feedback. What would you expect to see while the site is loading? A dark screen instead? I've opened an issue and any input on a solution would be appreciated https://github.com/MethodGrab/firefox-custom-new-tab-page/issues/3. - Rated 5 out of 5by Pluggie, 6 years ago
